a month agoTHERE'S NO ARGUMENT ANYMORE!!!
CONGRATS TO ALL OUR PLAYERS AND COACHES on a very exciting 4-2 victory over New Trier Sunday night! It got a little tight in the 3rd with NT's top guns determined not to get shut out. But Casey continued to flash her amazingly skilled leather, and we shut the door on them.
And with that win WE FINISH IN 1ST PLACE IN THE SCHOLASTIC DIVISION!!!
We currently have 10 points with one game left in the Scholastic Division, while NT has 9 points with no games left, and York has 6 points with 1 game left. So, no matter what happens in the remaining division games, Glenbrook should be the #1 seed in the Metro League / Scholastic Division Championship Tournament next weekend Feb. 13th-15th. CONGRATULATIONS GLENBROOK GIRLS HOCKEY!!!
BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE...
Our final Scholastic Division game at Burlington Grizzlies this Sunday Feb. 8th 7:30 pm does matter in a significant way; IF WE WIN, WE FINISH AS THE TOP TEAM OVERALL IN POINTS FOR THE REGULAR 18 GAME METRO LEAGUE SEASON!!!
AHAI STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT
As voted on by all the head coaches and announced Sunday night, the York Dukes are the #1 seed, Glenbrook is #2, New Trier is #3, and Fenwick #4 in the AHAI State Championship Tournament, and that won't change. https://www.ahai.org/tournaments/high-sc...
But finishing top in points overall would give us bona fide bragging rights and probably make York nervous about playing us in the State Final Championship Game. SO, LET'S WIN THIS SUNDAY NIGHT vs. GRIZZLIES!!!
EXTENSION OF CAPTAIN & ALTERNATE LETTERS
Our coaches are pleased to announce they have made the decision to extend Captain and Alternate letters to the remainder of our Seniors, Maria Zhang and Haleigh Lofland (respectively) in recognition of their leadership and contribution to the team as we approach the postseason!! This is well deserved and hard-earned recognition especially given that both have returned very strong from difficult and lengthy injuries. CONGRATULATIONS MARIA AND HALEIGH!!!
POSTSEASON AVAILABILITY
PLEASE CONFIRM YOUR PLAYER'S AVAILABILITY FOR ALL POSTSEASON GAMES CURRENTLY POSTED ON OUR CROSSBAR CALENDAR ASAP!
All dates / times / locations for both the Metro League / Scholastic Division and the AHAI State Tournament semifinal games are confirmed and will not change.
We don't know which Metro / Scholastic Semifinal game we will play in next weekend, (either Friday night or Feb. 13th 7:30 pm, or Saturday Feb. 14th 12:30 pm). But Metro usually gives us the choice of these 2 game slots, and it is critical to know ASAP which game we will have the most players available.
And we have not yet earned our spot in the State Semifinal game Monday March 9th 8:25 pm at Rosemont Ice Arena, but it will be helpful for the coaches to know in advance which of our players can't make that game.
SPECIAL EVENT GAMES
And don't forget to cheer on our 5 players voted onto the AHAI ALL-STATE GAME on Sunday Feb. 22nd 6:30 pm.
CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN ON THIS ELITE HONOR TO CASSIDY CHA, ISABELLA DYNIA, SARAH REEDER, TATE ROTH, AND CASEY STOCKBRIDGE!!! https://www.ahai.org/events/high-school-...
The Metro League invitational Game will be held just before the All-State Game on the same ice at 5:00 pm. CONGRATULATIONS TO LUCY LUSKIN, PENNY MARTIN, RILEY MAUTNER, AND EVELYN NOSHAY!!! Please cheer them on too!
And finally, the Chicago Wolves / Metro League All-Star Game will be held at the Allstate Arena on Sunday March 22nd 1:00 pm (Glenbrook players TBC).
What a great season it's been so far, but let's not let off the gas just yet!
We have a lot of important hockey still to play, and a chance to earn and hang more banners in our rink!!!
LET'S GO GLENBROOK GIRLS VARSITY IN 2026 POSTSEASON!!!

3 months agoForceful 6-4 Win vs #1 York Dukes!!!
Congrats to our players on a very strong game and convincing win against the top team in the league! And kudos to our Coaches (2 were remote) who did a masterful job with the lines to matchup against a really strong team.
York came out on fire and pounded us with 40 shots evenly across all 3 periods. But Penny made many outstanding saves, and all 5 skaters were on task with defense shutting down and frustrating their top scorers. And our relentless offensive push netted some very sweet goals and a couple super gritty ones!!
After that game, there should be no question in anyone's minds that Glenbrook can earn 1 of 2 spots in the State Championship Final Game!
NEXT GAME this Sunday Jan. 4th 7:30 pm at Fenwick / Franklin Park Arena.
As of now we have 20 skaters and Penny checked in for this game, so we may have to healthy scratch a couple skaters. Please show up if you want to play and the coaches will make a game time decision on those healthy scratches.
PLEASE CHECK IN OR OUT FOR ALL 5 REMAINING SCHEDULED GAMES ASAP. We need to know who's coming to future games to determine healthy scratches while still keeping everyone eligible for the postseason.
AND PLEASE DO NOT CHECK YOURSELF OUT ANY GAME JUST TO GIVE SOMEONE ELSE THE GAME ROSTER SPOT. Please check-in for every game you can make. We are tracking every players' status so let us make the healthy scratch decision based on that data.
SENIOR NIGHT IS SUNDAY JANUARY 11 AT HOME vs LFHS!!! We would like to have every player and coach at this special event so please make it if you can.
WE STILL NEED VOLUNTEERS TO DO CLOCK / SCOREBOARD at our 2 remaining home games. Please signup here if you haven't volunteered yet this year. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0C4AA...
PLAYER SAFETY
Finally, all 13 Metro Teams received a letter from the AHAI Chair of the Girls Committee Anita Lichterman about player safety. Here is her letter verbatim:
December 29, 2025
To: All Girls High School Organizations
From: Anita Lichterman, Player Safety Coordinator
RE: PLAYER SAFETY – PLAYING THE GAME
Good evening, everyone.
I spent the better part of my weekend reviewing several incident reports while working on my player injury spreadsheet.
I also reviewed five to six various videos of out-of-control situations on the ice during games.
I have asked the Metro Girls High School Hockey League Board to send this notice to all Girls High School Organizations as what I witnessed and read, especially during Girls games, was absolutely appalling.
How we act on and off the ice reflects who we are & the school we represent. It is up to us as leaders to teach our players fair & safe play & discipline accordingly when ‘Zero Tolerance’ is abused regardless of whether or not the Officials make a call.
We all know the saying… “if you see something, say something!”
Player Safety is not just about the equipment being worn, it is about respecting teammates and opponents equally. The game is a fast-paced, adrenaline driving sport & we need to teach our young ladies how to manage anger & not take it out on the opposing players. Injuries are a result of the lack of discipline and respect. We all can control ourselves & we must teach how to control emotion even when penalties are not being called. The game is physical but there is NO checking in Girls Hockey, at least not at this time.
There is NO room for any dirty hits especially when a player comes up from behind to a totally defenseless opponent, use of a stick or skates as a weapon, no reason to be throwing punches. Teach the game the way it is supposed to be played because the game can be a beautiful thing to watch when played without the injury causing attacks.
Please share this with your Boards, Coaches, Parents, and Players.
Thank you & let’s make the New Year a fun & safe environment as we go into the end of the 2nd half, playoffs & State.
